Being a step-mom

I have a step-daughter Amanda.  She is 14 years old, and is still sweet, and likeable.  When I was her age I was sullen, miserable, and cranky.  She has never minded what people thought about her fashion sense, and I was so concerned with which Charlie's Angel people would mistake me for, and if my leg warmers would stand out too much.  I am glad our relationship has turned into friendship.  Her mother and I get along well (thank you Jesus), because that would never be awkward.   My niece Trinity and Amanda are the same age and they are precious!!

Thanksgiving!!

Thanksgiving Day was great.  I cooked my first turkey, which was an experience.  First of all, the neck was inside of the body.  Most people knew that.  Disturbing. This should have been something I have done by now. We always went to our mother's homes, and that generation cooked for us, and we got away with bringing a devilled egg or something pitiful like that.  This year, I pulled my butt off of the recliner around Tuesday, (my first of 3 days off), and made a list.  I actually remembered the list at the grocery store, and started cooking Wednesday.  This resulted in hot rolls that ended up looking like cookies, and a weird, dark pumpkin pie.   But overall, the meal was lovely and I scored June Cleaver points with my family. (I love her).  Then after dinner, I took a 3 hour nap.  Heaven.

FIRST POST!!!

Hello.  This is my first blog.  This is my first post!  I hope this blog is fun, honest, pretty, and a place for me to keep the madness together and at a minimum.   I have tons of interest & hobbies, but none that I am consistent with since this new home/house thing.  I work full-time as a nurse, but want  to make more time to create pretty things, and pass that love on to my daughter.  She is almost 9, and so great!

Who knew falling leaves could be so dangerous?
